Orpheus embarks on a journey to retrieve her, and aided by his harmonious tunes and Persephone (Hades' wife), he manages to bringing her back to his residence.

The full seven-piece band for "Hadestown" delivers the full performance while all excluding the drummer are visible on stage. Entertainment Weekly showered accolades on the Broadway rendition, stating, “When it comes to tales as ancient as time, the narratives of Greek mythology rank at the top, those epic stories of gods and mortals that have been recounted for centuries, inspiring endless interpretations. However, there's something remarkably modern and fresh about the manner in which those stories - those ancient ballads, those poignant ballads - are delivered in Hadestown. As it premieres on Broadway, this journey to the underworld feels as if it were a novel creation.”
